The Soggy Coo

I'm passionate about books, horses, music, food and I love to travel. If you're interested in these things and want to kill some time for a while, then I'm happy for the company.

Visited the Hell Fire Caves in West Wycombe over the weekend. The tunnels were hand excavated in the 1750s by local labourers and became the secret location of the notorious Hell Fire Club.
At first, it’s a bit disorientating wandering the tunnels. There are lights along the way with illuminated wax figures in the caves but many of the twists and turns are dark. The size of the archways into the different tunnels are also different heights and widths and the floor slopes too to add to the fun. The total area is not really that large but I can imagine back in the day after having a drink or two that trying to find the way using just candlelight would be a challenge!
