Was in London last weekend and decided to go to Chinatown to get dumplings for lunch, I thought there might still be Chinese New Year celebrations going on and there was. There were colourful lanterns hanging everywhere in the streets. All you could hear were the noise of drums. The crowds blocked the streets, as everyone tried to catch a glimpse of the dragons that were making their way up and down the streets. It was so busy in some places, that you couldn’t get passed.
My goal was lunch, so on finding a restaurant, I went in and ordered Dumpling Soup, which was fantastic. The broth was really light and refreshing and the vegetable dumplings were fresh tasting and flavourful.
The drums got louder as I ate and a few minutes later the dragon arrived to bless the store. So I was lucky enough to get to watch the dragon dance while enjoying my lunch. How lucky is that!
I love Jackie Morris’ illustrations, they’re really lovely. Here is one of the dragons from the picture book, ‘Tell me a Dragon’ if you click on the interview, you can see more of her pictures or go over to her website at: http://www.jackiemorris.co.uk/
